Don’t Let a Cheap Forklift Cost You More Later
Forklifts are essential for warehouse, yard, and container logistics. But in used condition, a forklift can quickly become unsafe or inefficient if it hasn’t been properly maintained. From mast operation to battery health, buyers must be thorough. Here’s how to evaluate a used forklift before purchasing.
Raise and lower the forks through their full range. Does the mast move smoothly without jerking? Do the chains move evenly on both sides? Uneven movement may indicate wear, bent mast rails, or damaged rollers.
Inspect for any cracks or welds on the carriage, backrest, or fork blades. Always verify the forks are straight and free of stress fractures.
